The mountain stands for ages, never claims it's high.
The river flows a long, long way,
Never says where it will lie.
Only the human heart keeps asking, asking why, oh why.
What do we chase on this long road beneath the sky?
A breath scattering in the empty air.
The wind passes through the barren field,
Leaves nothing behind, no trace.
The clouds drift across the heavens,
Never settle in one place.
These hands I held so tightly now find only empty space.
But in this emptied heart, the world finds its embrace.
